The 2018 NASCAR Mock Season Schedule was officially released this afternoon from NASCAR, revealing major changes to the schedule for the 2018 season. NASCAR confirmed that the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will continue with its normal 36 race season, along with 33 XFINITY Races, and 23 Truck Races
Next season, the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will finally make their debut at the Iowa Speedway in August of 2018, making it a dobule header weekend for their fall weekend at the track, joining the XFINITY Series. This big change did come at a cost for one Monster Energy Cup Track; that being the Michigan International Speedway. Michigan will lose its Fall Date and will be replaced by Iowa on that respective date. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Michigan is normally held in the Fall but will be moved into the Spring on a Friday Afternoon, making it a quadruple weekend with Cup, XFINITY, and ARCA.
As Michigan loses a date, another track will receive an additional date for 2018; that being the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. For the first time since their inaugural race in 1998, Las Vegas will hold two Monster Energy Cup Series races in one season. The Second Las Vegas Race will kickoff the Cup Series Playoff's in Round #1 which will replace Chicagoland which will be moved to the Summer.
The Final regular season race in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will be held at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway which will officially set which 16 drivers will face off in the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs and battle for the championship. Indianapolis will replace Richmond of being the cut-off race, as Richmond's second date will become a Playoff Race.
NASCAR also confirmed that the Bank of America 500 will be run on the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval (Road Course) in the Playoff's. This will give us 3 road course races for the Cup Series in 2018
The ARCA Racing Series, which is also connected in the NASCAR Mock Season, also released their schedule, with their one and only big change being their debut at the historic Greenville Pickens Speeway in Greenville, SC.
